International Church Leaders Tour Concordia Seminary

Professor David Berger shows rare books to International church leaders
On Sunday, 12 September, after the installation of President Harrison, we held day two of a theological conference for the International Church leaders. Day one of the theological conference introduced the partner churches of the LCMS to Witness, Mercy, Life Together. Day two included a tour of the library, campus, and lectures by Drs. Jim Voelz and Erik Hermann.

Looking at rare books, particularly the 1580 Book of Concord

Dr. Andrew Chiu from Hong Kong stands in front of his
"cage" 115 at seminary library where he studied in graduate school
President Ignacio Chan Cux of Guatemala holds facsimile
of the Bach Bible Title page, a gift from the library
Dr Andy Bacon of Concordia Seminary
"raptured" only his notebook and pipe remain

The seminary was very hospitable to the International Church leaders. Mrs. Meyer held a reception for them on her lawn at the end of the day. Everyone enjoyed themselves. It was very exciting to see the reaction of the International church leaders when they saw a 1580 Book of Concord -- such excitement in their eyes. A few more photos below.

  1. Wasn't there at the same time, but I spent quite a bit of time in cage 109, not too far from 115. Memories, like the corners of my mind.
